When the list of movies got posted, I read all their summaries in the hope of finding one that would inspire me, The summary of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), was the first to caught my attention. The story of parents shocked by their daughter's choice of lover set off my Clex alarm. I already had the scene sketched out in my mind : the Kent's kitchen, Lex and Clark by the door, the Kent's shocked expressions… But then, not only did Spell happened, my Jonathan/Lionel muse (Jolie) also decided to come back from wathever trip she was on. Jolie was stuck on « dinner » and « shocking », that's how Un Long Dîner de Fiançailles was born.
